Donna Wheeler is a U.S.- based Latinx film and theatre director and screenwriter. She's known for directing scripted content for Walt Disney Studios and other global clients; segments for OWN; comedy feature Death of a Saleswoman; documentary short films and series; a show-runner, staff writer, Producing Director for Couplets episodic at All Def Digital; and directing comedic, dramatic plays. She also produced and edited short film The Customer, nominated for a Student Academy Award. She's a Slamdance Screenwriting Fellow, Film Independent Lab finalist, Academy Nicholl Fellowship finalist & semi-finalist, Sundance Filmmaker Lab finalist, Best Screenplay and Audience Awards (directing + screenwriting) Female Eye Film Fest, Bare Bones Film Festival, Beverly Hills Film Festival, LA Femme Film Festival and 2nd Rounder, Austin Film Festival. Since 2006, she serves on the Festival Staff and Jury for Broad Humor Film Festival in Los Angeles. Wheeler focuses on POC, gender parity, diversity, inclusion, LGBTQ+ stories. She also creates media and film projects under a 501(c)(3) sponsorship that amplifies women's and diverse voices.
