Saul Miller

Since year one of the festival Saul and his wife Laara dedicated themselves to making our little village film festival into a world class event. Their inspired efforts really launched the festival into an eminence that, without their help, would have been impossible.

Saul continues this legacy by being one of the most dedicated volunteer organizers; keeping the event running smoothly.

Saul and his son also now offer a $1,000 award in honor of Larraa, who passed away in 2023. This prize is THE LARAA AWARD and it recognizes the year’s most inspirational BSFF film.

Saul is also a cartoonist and his popular rabbit characters have been making insightful local observations about Borregans for decades!

Pam Korporaal

Welcome to Pam’s domain and the hub of the BSFF: The Filmmaker’s Lounge. She’s the hostess with the mostest. Like, literally. This ain’t a metaphor! She’s has boxes and boxers of stuff to give to attending filmmakers. You want swag? She’s got the swag!

Not to mention all the FREE fresh baked goodies, fruit, snacks, water, and coffee she brings to the event every single morning.

When it comes down to the real reason why the BSFF has succeeded all these years, it’s not hyperbole to say that the BSFF is well regarded among filmmakers because of Pam. On top of all that, on Sunday she makes fresh the festival’s most popular and coveted filmmaker award: THE GOLDEN COOKIE.

As head librarian she’s made the festival really shine by increasing the awareness of the festival throughout San Diego county. She hosts the library panels as well as the FREE library screenings.

Her admiration for the fest is almost as impressive as her admiration for our village, “There is something very special about the community of Borrego Springs. It is hard to put your finger on exactly. It feels like time slows down, and what’s most important in life springs forth.”

Take this guy to a restaurant and buy him a lunch! He’s earned it. Sometimes the hard way.
