Director Biography - Karen Liebau McPherson

Born and raised in Germany, Karen emigrated to Australia at the age of 19. Now a Melbourne based writer/director, she has recently completed her Masters of Directing at the Victorian College of the Arts. Her short films have played at Australian and International Film Festivals including Dances With Films, Salento International Film Festival, Flickerfest and Lorne Shorts. Her self-produced short film, “The Hamster King”, won best Cinematography and third prize at the 2018 Peninsula Film and Festival. Prior to this, her background is in camera operating and editing on German Television Productions and later producing, directing and editing online content in Australia. She is currently writing and working on a feature film documentary about vision impaired Olympic Medalist Jaryd Clifford.
