#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?

A boy who falls in love while spending a weekend with grandpa. It is here to remind us the importance of family values within generations.

#2: What do you want the Borrego Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?

In today’s world, young individuals tend to forget about their grandparents. They do not spend as much time with them as they did in the past. We don’t know when they’ll leave our lives forever. I hope that the short film “Grandpa Arnold” will make young people recall their grandparents and pay them an unexpected visit. That would be the best present for them and the film hopes to inspire people to make that simple, but very important decision.

#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.

After getting a major in “Transport Equipment and Technology” and taking a safe route in my country, Kazakhstan, I went to the U.S. to pursue my dream. Which is telling stories through cinema. The first thing I needed was an education, so I applied to the New York Film Academy. I got in and pursued a Master of Fine Arts degree in filmmaking. In order to complete the program, I had to take the first year in New York and the second in Los Angeles. I needed to make a short film in my first year, which led me to create Grandpa Arnold.

#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?

There can never be too much preparation. The better you prepare, the smoother the production will be. Everyone who is involved in the process of film making needs to do their home work in order to have a better collaboration with their teammates on set.

#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?

My film waits internet platforms such as youtube and vimeo so people can watch it all over the world. There is an audience for every filmmaker’s voice and I am currently looking for mine.
