Ruth

A young woman answers the call to become a Pack Horse Librarian during the Great Depression. Set amongst the wild terrain of the Kentucky Appalachian Mountains, we follow Ruth’s sacrifice of self and love to aid those most in need. Her courage and grit is passed down through her bloodline, and reflected back when her great-granddaughter faces a similar choice as a physician during the fall of Roe v Wade 2022.

Director Biography - Daryl Getman

Director Daryl Getman tells stories through movement and imagery, utilizing several mediums from the stage, to film and photography. She was awarded "Fearless Female Filmmaker" from the Coronado Film Festival for her work as director of Double Exposure (LDR Creative), a short romantic comedy film set in New York City where whimsy meets reality in a world shaped by music and cinematic movement. Daryl particularly loves telling women's stories - focusing on thought provoking, empowering and relevant content. Her background as a photographer, dancer and actress has shaped her hands on approach to her film work. “Directing is the natural fusion of my creative and collaborative selves. It is when I’m dialed in to the director mindset, from paper to production, that I feel most alive.”
