QUESTION#1: What about your film excites you the most?: What excites me the most about our documentary is sharing with the world our main protagonist Inge Besgen's inspirational story and artwork.
QUESTION#2: What is it about your current movie that will influence your next film?: I am developing a short animation film, "The Song of the Little Apple Tree Castle" with the 94 year old artist, Inge Besgen. The idea is based on an magical story- inspired by Inge.
QUESTION#3: When you’re shooting a film, do you think of time as something you capture or something you construct?: While shooting this documentary it was all about capturing the moment- Inge Besgen's way of creating art in her enormous art studio at the Opel car factory and her unpredictable and challenging relationship with her son Tino, who suffers from mental illness. This in itself was a dance and keep all of us behind the camera on our toes!
QUESTION#4: What’s a limitation you wish you had on your next shoot that would force you into making interesting creative decisions?: Working as an indie filmmaker, limitations are part of the territory. Making films that you are passionate about forces you to make interesting creative decisions on a daily basis.
QUESTION#5: If a film shoot is like a living organism, which department do you think functions as its nervous system?: Taking our documentary as an example, the producers (production department) did all the planning and decision making (the brain) Moving from the brain to the body - the rest of the crew would be responsible for receiving, and sending signals to control all bodily functions, thoughts, movements, and senses, So it is the crew (body) who receives the information from the brain (production department) and makes things move and happen.
