5Q's w/: Bo Qing Tang "115 Words For You Today" Director, Writer, Producer
QUESTION 1: What about your film excites you the most?
What excites me most is that I finally made an animated short that feels like a poem. I’ve always wanted to create a film with that kind of quiet, distilled emotion — and with 113 Words For You Today, I feel like I achieved it.
QUESTION 2: What is it about your current movie that will influence your next film?It reminded me that if you just keep moving forward, you will finish your movie one day — no matter how small your budget or your team is. And when you stay committed, you can make a film that truly connects you with the people who watch it.
QUESTION 3: When you’re shooting a film do you think of time as something you capture or something you construct?
For me, time is something I construct. Animation gives you total control — every frame, every pause, every breath is built intentionally. Instead of capturing time as it happens, I shape it to guide emotion, rhythm, and meaning.
QUESTION 4: What’s a limitation you wish you had on your next shoot that would force you into making interesting creative decisions?
To tell the story as calmly as possible, while keeping intense emotions buried underneath.
QUESTION 5: If a film shoot is like a living organism which department do you think functions as its nervous system?
All departments are important. Like a living nervous system, each has a different role, but they must work together as one to create a good film.
